History[edit | edit source]

Built as c/n 43392, this aircraft was among the examples used by the U.S. Air Force in South Vietnam, based at Bien Hoa until October 1972, when they were given to South Vietnam. Captured by North Vietnam in April 1975, 71-0854 was acquired by a private owner in Oct 1991, and shipped to New Zealand. Restored to airworthy condition, it was registered on July 2, 1992 as ZK-J. The aircraft is still airworthy, operating with Classic Flyers Museum, based at Mount Maunganui New Zealand.[2]
