History[edit | edit source]
Completed in October 1979, A-533 was delivered to the III Brigada Aérea on 31 December.
On 15 May 1982 A-533, flown by Ensign Diaz, was one of the four aircraft sent to reinforce the Argentine forces in the Falkland Islands. After being flown on a number of missions, A-533 was grounded due to battle damage on 28 May, and was not returned to airworthy condition until 13 June, the day before the ceasefire.
Captured at Stanley Airport, A-533 was shipped to the U.K, and was allocated the serial ZD486 for evaluation purposes, only to be scrapped.
The cockpit section survives as part of the Boscombe Down Aviation Collection.
