History[]
Completed in October 1979, A-533 was delivered to the III Brigada Aérea on 31 December.
On 15 May 1982 A-533, flown by Ensign Diaz, was one of the four aircraft sent to reinforce the Argentine forces in the Falkland Islands. After being flown on a number of missions, A-533 was grounded due to battle damage on 28 May, and was not returned to airworthy condition until 13 June, the day before the ceasefire.[1]
Captured at Stanley Airport, A-533 was shipped to the U.K, and was allocated the serial ZD486 for evaluation purposes, only to be scrapped.[2]
The cockpit section survives as part of the Boscombe Down Aviation Collection.[3]
