Built by Hawker Aircraft Limited, 'Empire Quill' was paid for by the Stationery and Allied Trades Warplane Fund.[1] Shipped to Egypt it was originally flown by an unknown unit as "Empire Quill", BP176 was captured by the Germans in Egypt in 1942 and later recaptured.

Fate[edit | edit source]

Attached to 1 Aircraft Delivery Unit, it tipped up on an engine run at Wadi Halfa during 13 February 1943 and was damaged beyond repair.[1]
