In Japanese service[]
Originally assigned to the 2nd Chutai of the 54th Sentai, this aircraft was captured on 25 April 1942, when Sgt. Major Kobayashi force-landed his Ki-27 near Kweilin and his Chutai commander, Capt. Dozono, landed alongside him in an attempt to rescue him.
In Allied hands[]
One of the two aircraft was rebuilt, using parts of both, as P-5015 and was tested by TAIU-China and US AVG personnel.[2] According to Bueschel General Chennault sent complete data on the fighter to Washington where it got "lost" in the files.[3]
Fate[]
The eventual fate of the aircraft is unknown.
