One of 200 Fairey Fulmar II - batch X8525-X8817 - ordered from Fairey under contract no B101971/40, and built at Heaton Chapel, as c/n F5135, X8700 was assigned to 807 squadron aboard HMS Argus. In November 1941, the aircraft force landed near Cluminzata, south Portugal.
