History

Ordered under contract no. B35944/39, and built at Hayes[1] as F5221,[2] X8941 was assigned to 828 squadron at Hal Far, Malta. On 23/24 January 1942, the aircraft failed to return from night ops, as it had been captured by the Italians, resulting in the crew becoming POWs. The wreck was present at the Stabilimento Costruzioni Aeronautiche, Guidonia, during June 1942.[3]
